Hebridean History - Resources

10 Callicvol at Port of Ness, Isle of Lewis, is a major cultural resource centre in the Western Isles.

There are unique collections of books, maps and plans, documents and photographs, relating to the Hebrides, Highlands and Scottish Borders. Housed in purpose-built accommodation the collections are available throughout the year. With special interests in less well-known places and local traditions 10 Callicvol offers tailored research information, illustrated talks on relevant subjects, and short courses, in addition to providing easy access, with personal attention, to all aspects of the collections. The material held here is useful to those looking for research sources, records of customs, traditions, natural history and rural life, and an accurate guide to the history and landscape of the areas covered.

Special arrangements can be made for visits out of hours and for tours to places of particular interest in Lewis and Harris.

Open:
